A brief selection of words I've written for public consumption.
These days, a lot of my writing (both serious and humorous) goes toward podcast production for We Built It That Way. But I still periodically write words to be read. Here are just a few.
When it comes to economic development, many cities may find that it's less work to attract business simply by being the cheapest place around. But in a "sort-by-price" world, cities should be careful about getting into a race to the bottom.

Big box stores were always a bad deal for the communities that housed them. Now the companies themselves are coming out and saying as much—once it suits them.

Books are old-fashioned. So are walkable neighborhoods and cities. And they both have an enduring magic that will never cease to be valuable even as they fall out of popular fashion.

There’s something missing in the way we talk about (and spend on) infrastructure—and it’s been below us all this time.

I've started contributing blog posts for my current company, TBG Partners, related to our sustainability efforts. This one a bit more on the "press-release-y" side. But there are many more posts planned for the near future!
